IFIM Alumni Association bequeaths funds to daily wage workers during COVID 19

IFIM Alumni Association

In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic with a loss in jobs mounting, The Alumni Association of  IFIM Business School, among India’s top six AACSB-accredited Business Schools, based in Bengaluru, donated Rs.2,00,000 for the benefit of 100 daily wage workers. This involves direct monetary transactions to the workers accounts on a weekly basis for four weeks.

Speaking on the initiative Mithun Appaiah, President of IFIM’s Alumni Association, commented, “In these testing times and hardship, daily wage workers are the most impacted and  everyone must step in their efforts to build enough support towards this cause to minimise the negative impact. Besides the tragic toll on human life, with countries shutting their borders, the global economy has taken a huge hit. The whole world is suffering  and is trying to cope with huge losses. But, those without any job security or savings are the most vulnerable. It is incumbent upon us, who have the privilege in terms of job security, to help those, less fortunate as we can sustain ourselves by making a living, but we only truly live a life when we give.”

These daily wage workers were identified through IFIM’s trusted non-profit partner ELCIA (Electronics City Industustries Association), who are working on the ground to help underprivileged communities fight the pandemic.  This initiative by the Alumni Association of IFIM Business School was launched as an emergency response to help provide a safety net to casual labor families.

IFIM Alumni Association supports many social initiatives such as Kanyathon, an annual cause ‘RUN’ for the encouragement of the girl child, the proceeds of which are collected from the same and donated to CRY (Child Rights and You). Previously, they have also offered 100% scholarships to students whose families have been deeply affected by natural disasters and other calamities.
