Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar has launched new B.Tech in Artificial intelligence (AI), a BTech-MTech Dual Degree in Mechanical Engineering and added 80 new seats in its undergraduate programmes.
IIT Gandhinagar is also conducting a virtual open house today for IIT aspirants who have cleared JEE (Advanced) 2023 featuring sessions with the Director, Deans of Academic and Student Affairs, and Heads of Counseling among others.
Students are being introduced to the structure of innovative academic programs including double major and dual degree programmes, liberal policy for branch or programme change, scholarships and financial support.
The session is also spotlighting opportunities for undergraduate research, international internships, on-campus employment, future career development, as well as extra-curricular initiatives like new state-of-the–art sports infrastructure and arts activities.
Elaborating on the new curriculum, Prof Rajat Moona, Director, IIT Gandhinagar, said, “The undergraduate curriculum was revised this year to adapt to rapidly-evolving technology. With the introduction of BTech in AI, we will enable students to build systems that harness data collection and computation to solve important global challenges. Apart from statistical and computational techniques, this program emphasizes responsible use of AI and developing interdisciplinary domain knowledge.
He recalled that the Institute in 20-21 had inaugurated the ‘Gordhanbhai B Gelot Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science’ to foster a diverse and collaborative ecosystem in the fields of data sciences, machine learning, artificial intelligence and applied mathematics”
A statement issued here said top recruiters for this year’s placement season include Accenture Japan, Adani Group, Barclays, Ford Motors Pvt Ltd, GAIL (India) Ltd , GCMMF Ltd (AMUL), HDFC Bank, Siemens, TCS Research & Innovation (R&I), Texas Instruments, Thornton Tomasetti, Zomato Ltd.
Elaborating further, Prof Nithin George, Dean of Academic Affairs, IIT Gandhinagar, said, “The institute promotes critical thinking and an appreciation of the interdisciplinary character of knowledge, and all round development of students.The unique foundation program helps them develop their creativity, teamwork, communication skills and sensitizes them to ethical and social issues and serves as a bridge between the rigours of JEE preparation and their academic journey at IIT Gandhinagar. 40 percent of our undergraduate students receive study abroad or other international opportunities. Our 5-week immersive Foundation Program for incoming students underscores creativity, leadership, communication skills, ethics, social awareness, and physical activity. ”
Founded in 2008 IITGN was the first in the country back in 2018 to receive a 5-star rating from GRIHA LD and has also won three HUDCO awards.
