IIT Madras: Faculty members and alumnus conferred with Padma Awards

IBM collaborates with IIT-Madras to augment selective courses

The government of India has conferred Padma Awards on faculty members and a distinguished alumnus of IIT Madras. Padma Shri conferred on Prof Pradeep Thalappil, Institute Professor, Department of Chemistry, IIT Madras; Padma Bhushan conferred on Mr. Venu Srinivasan, Chairman, TVS Group and Honorary Professor of Practice, IIT Madras and Padma Shri conferred on Mr. Prem Watsa, Founder-Chairman, Fairfax Financial Holdings, and Distinguished Alumnus, Batch of 1971, IIT Madras.

The Institute congratulated all three awardees for this well-deserved honour in recognition of their work and contributions.

About IIT Madras

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) was established in 1959 by the Government of India as an institute of national importance. The activities of the Institute in various fields of Technology and Science are carried out in 16 academic departments and several advanced interdisciplinary Research Academic Centres. The Institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs leading to the B.Tech., M.Sc., M.B.A., M.Tech., M.S., and Ph.D., degrees in a variety of specialisations. IITM is a residential institute with more than 580 faculty and 9,500 students. Students from 18 countries are enrolled here.
