In Omnia Paratus – Prepared for all challenges

– Shivali Antin, Grade 9 student, Indus Altum International School, Belagavi

Eagles are really fascinating. They fly to a high spot on mountain peaks or the top of tall trees and wait, alert. When a storm hits, an eagle will spread open its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the downpour rages below, the eagle soars above it. Never will it let a challenge overthrow it, it only uses the negative energy to fly even higher. Just like each of us green eagles strive to do at Indus Altum.

It was mid-June when I started my journey at IAIS. It was the start of the academic year, and nobody’s face was familiar. Yet, the transition was the smoothest one possible. After a noticeably short while, I felt a sense of belonging and inclusivity in the tight-knit community of our school, or what one would call a ‘family’. The friendly faculty were so welcoming, it made me forget the fact that I was a new student at this new school.

All roundedness

Indus Altum provides us students with all the facilities we need for an integrated school life. We have a healthy balance between academics and co-curricular activities. I thoroughly enjoy participating in inter-house events, and it is the driving force behind my competitiveness. We actively involve ourselves in the hands-on learning, taking place during class hours. Our teachers inspire and excite us and give us something to ponder on and question each day.

Future readiness

In omnia paratus – prepared for all challenges. Our motto is deeply engraved in our learning. It means we are taught to face any possible outcome. It’s not a statement driven by fear but rather, one filled with optimism and hope, designed to instill courage in all. The school is training us for the VUCA world (volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous). The teachers teach us what textbooks cannot. In tomorrow’s AI enabled environment, we will be able to use our minds to do things machines cannot, because of the efforts being put in to make us future ready.

Eco-warriors

Going back to being future ready, climate change is the unfortunate reality, impacting our generation the most. Rather than staying in denial, we being students are encouraged to constantly come up with solutions. Thinking globally and acting locally we intend to tackle global warming one small step at a time: from little things like changing to re-usable cups and saving electricity, to designing a self-sustainable ecosystem to be built in our beautiful campus.

It has been the best year of schooling I could ask for. Time has flown by very quickly and I absolutely cannot wait to see what Indus Altum has in store for me next year.

There is an eagle in me eagerly waiting to soar!
