India’s premier AI & ML conference, AI Days 2024, themed ‘AI4Society’ and hosted by Swecha Telangana, concluded today at JNTU, Hyderabad. Shri Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, I&C, IT, E&C, Government of Telangana, graced the Valedictory Session as Chief Guest. Dr. Krishna Palem, esteemed Computer Scientist & Engineer, along with Y Kiran Chandra, Founder, and Praveen Chandra, Secretary, both from Swecha, were among the dignitaries present.
With over 2,000 attendees, including IT professionals, researchers, startups, and students, the two-day convention featured globally renowned AI & ML experts from leading Tech companies. Discussions spanned various sectors like IT, Healthcare, AgriTech, FinTech, Semi-Conductors, EduTech, and startups, focusing on leveraging AI for societal advancement. Representatives from Google, Facebook (Meta), Microsoft, Qualcomm, Micron, Ozonetel, Tech Vedika, DigiQuanta, Arka MediaWorks, among others, deliberated on governance and policy aspects of AI.
A key highlight was the unveiling of the Telugu AI Voice Assistant, empowering farmers, frontline healthcare workers, sanitation workers, and others to access AI in their mother tongue. A live demo showcased its application in remotely operating water pumps, thereby preventing farmer fatalities from electrocution during manual operation.
Additionally, a high-performance distributed supercomputer was introduced, utilizing spare computing capacity across Telangana to run intensive AI/ML applications at a fraction of the usual cost. This groundbreaking initiative marks a significant step towards democratizing AI technology on a global scale.
