Innovation achievement rankings 2021: KIIT #1 in top private universities

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) has been ranked number one in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA)’s CFTIs, Central University, and Institute of National Importance category, this is the third consecutive year IIT Madras has retained its top spot. Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) has made it to the top of the list of private universities. 

The ARIIA is an initiative by the union education ministry, conceptualized in 2019 to rank all major higher educational institutions and universities in India on indicators related to “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development” amongst students and faculties.

The current edition of ARIIA 2021 saw a total of 3,551 HEIs register for the event. As many as 1,438 institutions (including all IITs, NITs, IISc, etc.) participated in the event, which is over double as compared to the second edition and four times more than the first edition. This edition also introduced a framework for non-technical institutions.

IIT Bombay has been ranked 2 while IIT Delhi has been ranked third in the ‘CFTIs, Central University, & Institute of National Importance category.’

Among the categories under which the institutes have been ranked are CFTIs, Central University, and Institute of National Importance, State University and Deemed University (Government and Government  Aided),  Government College/Institution (government and aided), University and Deemed University (Self-Finance/Private) and Private College/Institute (Self-Finance/Private) categories.

Among the state and deemed universities (government and aided) categories, Panjab University, Delhi Technological University and Netaji Subhas University of Technology have bagged the top ranks.

Odisha based KIIT; Khorda has been ranked 1 in the private or self-financed universities category. Two universities from Punjab,  Chitkara University and Lovely Professional University have been ranked II and III respectively.
