A greater number of certified audit professionals worldwide are now eligible to pursue ISACA’s Advanced in AI Audit (AAIA) certification—the first and only advanced, audit-specific AI credential designed for experienced auditors.
In addition to recognised certifications such as ISACA’s Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), several new certifications have been added to the list of eligible prerequisites. These include:
- ACCA Chartered Certified Accountant (ACCA) and Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant (FCCA)
- Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (Canadian CPA)
- CPA Australia’s Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) and Fellow Certified Practising Accountant (FCPA)
- Japanese Certified Public Accountant (Japanese CPA)
Developed on ISACA’s long-standing expertise in IT audit, the AAIA credential validates an auditor’s ability to conduct AI-focused audits, navigate AI integration challenges, and apply AI tools to enhance audit effectiveness. The certification covers key domains including AI governance and risk, AI operations, and auditing techniques tailored to AI systems.
“As a global organisation, we are committed to equipping professionals with the resources and credentials needed to advance their careers,” said Shannon Donahue, ISACA chief content and publishing officer. “We are pleased to welcome a broader community of experienced audit professionals into the AAIA pathway.”
The AAIA is part of ISACA’s growing suite of AI-focused offerings, which also includes the forthcoming Advanced in AI Security Management (AAISM) credential, expected in Q3 2025.
