Students appearing in ISC examination in 2021 will be allowed to take the viva for their project work through online mode and on phone, the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) said.
“For those candidates who are unable to attend the school physically to take the Viva-Voce, the viva may be conducted virtually/telephonically,” The CISCE said in a circular instructing heads of all ISC schools on the process evaluation of projects works to be followed for ISC examinees of 2021.
Students can submit soft copies of their projects to the school if they can’t come to the campuses, according to the circular, the principals of ISC schools said. Handwritten projects, scanned copies of hand written reports and power point presentation of the reports will be also accepted.
“The Visiting Examiners should be provided with the Projects of the candidates either in hardcopy format or through electronic mode,” the circular read.
The council said the “online module” for the submission of project marks, SUPW Grades will be activated on December 18.
This is the first time the council will allow schools to conduct the viva-voce through online mode and accept soft copies of students’ project reports considering the Covid-19 situation.
Schools are still shut and in many states schools have not reopened even partially for the X and XII students. The online mode of submission of project works and virtual and telephonic viva are being allowed in case students are not able to attend the campuses, according to heads of schools.
The council asked the schools to conduct the viva-voce in a staggered manner and directed the heads to prepare a schedule for each student in consultation with the visiting examiner.
In case students are allowed to visit the campuses for taking the viva, social distancing norms will have to be maintained, the council said.
“If the candidates are allowed to visit the school to take the Viva-Voce, the social distancing norms must be maintained by the school. The Viva-Voce must be conducted in a staggered manner. The Head of the School, in consultation with the Visiting Examiner, may prepare a schedule for the conduct of the Viva-Voce for each candidate accordingly,” the circular said.
The hard copies of the projects will have to be properly sanitized before they are handed over to the examiners concerned.
The schools have been asked to fix the dates for students for submission of the project works and the schools must ensure that all the students submitted the projects within the stipulated date.
The CISCE last week had announced 20-marks compulsory project work in some more subjects including Indian languages for the ISC 2021 examinees last Friday.
