The ISC (Class XII) 2022 results were declared on Sunday which showed a marginal dip in overall pass percentage than last year but most schools recorded an increase in the number of high scorers like the previous year.
The all-India pass percentage in ISC this year is 99.38 percent which is 0.36 percent less than last year.
As many as 18 students have stood first scoring 99.75 percent. Altogether 154 students have been placed in the first three ranks. Those who have been placed in the second position have scored 99.50 percent and 99.25 percent have been scored by those in the third position.
Heads of several schools said the number of students with 90 percent and above marks have increased this time and many students who were expecting 90 per cent marks have scored between 95 and 100 per cent in some subjects.
Terence John, principal of Julien Day School, Kalyani in West Bengal said 91 students had appeared the Class XII exam from this school this year of whom 52 have scored 90 percent and above marks. The number of students with 90 percent and above marks was much less last year, he said.
“Our students have performed much better this time than last year. Good students have scored very high marks in most subjects and many average students too have scored above 90 percent in aggregate and also in individual subjects,” said John.
The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), that conducts the ICSE and ISC exams, had cancelled the board exams in 2021 in view of the aggressive second wave of Covid-19 and the results were prepared based on a formula devised by the council.
To tabulate the results, the CISCE had decided on some broad parameters which were used for the compilation of marks last year.
Classes were mostly held in online mode but the ISC exam was held offline. Several schools said the students’ scores in most subjects were still found to be very “satisfactory”.
“ The results showed that in most cases students have scored what they deserved. This trend was not noticed last year,” said Rev Rodney Borneo, principal of St Augustine’s Day School, Shyamnagar.
However, at several schools a downward trend was noticed in students’ performance in accounts.
Several students had not performed well in accounts in the semester 1 exam. Heads of several schools said most students have failed to perform well even in the semester 2 exam. As a result their overall marks are low.
As many as 96,940 students from 1228 schools had appeared in the ISC exam this year.
