The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations postponed the ISC (Class XII) Chemistry Paper (I) theory) examination that was slated to be held on Monday.

The postponed chemistry paper will be conducted on March 21, the CISCE said in an announcement today.

Today’s paper was supposed to be held from 2 pm today. The council made the announcement about the postponement of the exam barely two hours before the test was to be conducted across the country.

The ICSE (Class X) history exam that started at 11 am, however, was conducted successfully across the country, CISCE officials said.

“ Today’s ISC paper had to be postponed due to some unforeseen circumstances,” Sangeeta Bhatia, CISCE deputy secretary told EducationWorld after the announcement.

“The ICSE and ISC examinations are different examinations. There was no need to postpone the ICSE paper. The announcement was posted on the council website,” the official said.

The decision was conveyed to the heads of all the council affiliated schools at around 11. 45 am, the schools said.

The council did not specify the reasons about the postponement of the exam even in the notice issued to the school heads.

“ Please note, the ISC Year 2024 Chemistry Paper I (Theory) Examination, scheduled for Monday ,26th February 2024, has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances. …The ISC Year 2024 Chemistry Paper I (Theory) Examination has been rescheduled for Thursday,21st March 2024 2 pm..” the notice read.

The heads were asked to convey the information to all concerned.

Several students said that they were about to reach the exam centre when they got the news that the exam was postponed. Many schools said that they had no information that the exam would be postponed.
