The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Tuesday postponed the 2024 ISC psychology examination that was slated on Wednesday March 27 as one of the examination centres reported that it has lost the packet containing question paper of the psychology examination, the CISCE said on Tuesday.

The postponed examination will be held on April 4 at 2 pm, the council said in a circular issued to ISC schools today.

This is the second time the council postponed an ISC paper this year.

On February 26, the council postponed the 2024 ISC chemistry exam less than two hours before the test was to be held citing ” some unforeseen circumstances”. The council has not divulged the exact reason for postponing the ISC chemistry paper till now.

In the circular issued to the schools today regarding the postponement of the psychology exam, the CISCE said: “ Kindly note, one of the ISC Year 2024 Examination Centres has reported the Question Paper packet of the forthcoming ISC Year 2024, Psychology Examination, lost. In view of the above fact, the ISC Year 2024 Psychology examination scheduled for Wednesday,27th March 2024, has been postponed. The Examination has been rescheduled for Thursday, 4th April 2024, 2.00 P.M.”

The council directed the schools that the question papers of the ISC psychology examination which was scheduled for March 27 should be handed over to the convener of the respective examination centre.

The council will shortly send the fresh set of question papers to be used in the April 4 exam to the conveners. The council asked the schools where the exam is to be held to ‘disseminate the information to all concerned”.

Sangeeta Bhatia, CISCE deputy secretary refused to divulge the name of the centre from where the packet containing the ISC psychology question paper went missing. She said appropriate action will be taken by the council against the school.

“It is unfortunate that we had to postpone another ISC exam this year.  We understand that the postponement has caused a lot of inconvenience to students and the schools. But, it is not possible to conduct the examination after knowing that a packet containing the question papers is missing,” Bhatia told EducationWorld over phone after the announcement about postponing the exam.

Once the exams end, the council will inquire about the facilities maintained in the schools for preserving question papers.

“The council will take disciplinary action against the school,” the CISCE deputy secretary said. The ISC 2024 began on February 12 and was supposed to end on April 3.

According to principals of schools the annual examinations, process of distribution of report cards and preparations to start the new academic sessions are going on in full swing in the institutions. The revised date has upset the activities as planned by the schools.
