JEE Advanced on July 3, no 75 percent eligibility criteria: Pokhriyal

Education Minister Pokriyal

Putting an end to speculations surrounding the JEE Advanced exam this year, Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ announced today that the national-level competitive exam for admission into the IITs will be held on July 3.

Going live on Twitter to announce the dates of JEE Advanced, Pokhriyal informed that this year, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, will conduct the national entrance test.

The minister also announced that the 75 percent eligibility criteria has been scrapped for the convenience of students amid the Covid-19 crisis.

This means that unlike previous years, when a general category student had to obtain 75 percent aggregate marks in the class XII (or equivalent exam) or rank among the top 20 percentile in the Board exam results to secure a seat in the IITs, this year, just the qualifying marks of the JEE Advanced are sufficient.
