The JEE Main 2020 applications have begun today, September 3, 2019 and the tests will be conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency). Interested candidates can register online through on or before September 30, through their official website: jeemain.nic.in.
The exams will be held twice, in January and April, next year and the best of two scores will be considered for merit list, ranking and admission. The January exam will be held between January 6 and 11. Meanwhile, the second edition will occur between April 3 and 9, the application process for which would begin in February.
The medium of question paper will be English, Hindi and Gujarati. There is no age limit for the candidates.
Eligibility criteria for JEE main 2020:
Candidates must have passed class 12th or any equivalent examination in 2018, 2019 or shall appearing in 2020.
For B.Tech, candidates must have a score of at least 75 per cent in class 12 board exams or a place among the top 20 percentile of the Boards is required to be eligible for JEE main or advanced. SC/ST categories must have 65 per cent in class 12. They also mathematics as compulsory subject along with either Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subject.
For B.Arch, candidates must have 50 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. They must also have 50 percent marks in aggregate of the qualifying examination.
For B.Planning, the candidates must have 50 percent marks in Mathematics and aggregate of the qualifying examination. This means candidates having commerce or arts along with math can also apply.
The results of the first edition of the JEE Main 2020 exam will be declared by January 31.
The number of questions in the exam has been reduced from 30 to 25. Out of 25 questions, 20 will be based on multiple-type questions and the rest 5 questions will be numerical type. Each question will carry 4 marks and for objective type questions, 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer while for numerical-type questions, negative marking is not applicable. Aptitude test will be of 200 marks. For B.Arch students, a drawing test will be conducted for 100 marks that will have only 2 questions.
