The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) announced the Class 12 results for science, commerce, and arts streams on Tuesday, with 85.48% of students passing the exam. JAC Chairman Anil Mahto, along with state School Education and Literacy Department Secretary Uma Shankar Singh, declared the results. Among the streams, 72.70% of students passed in science, 90.60% in commerce, and the highest, 93.16%, in arts.
The exams, held in February this year, had over 3.44 million students enrolled, with more than 2.98 lakh students passing. Sneha from Ursline Inter College Ranchi topped the state in the science stream with 491 marks out of 500, while Pratibha Saha from the same college ranked first in commerce with 474 marks. In the arts stream, Zeenat Parween from Government Plus-2 High School, Kanke, secured the top spot with 472 marks.
However, the results dropped by about three percent compared to the previous year’s 88.67%. Girls outperformed boys in arts and commerce, with pass percentages of 94.22% and 93.46%, respectively, while boys slightly surpassed girls in the science stream. Singh mentioned that the results in physics and chemistry were not satisfactory in the science stream, highlighting areas for improvement.
Singh attributed the slight decline in results to changes in the examination pattern, noting that this year’s exams were not conducted on OMR sheets.
