A class 5 student, Avni Sharma of Jammu’s Jodhamal Public School has donated her last two years pocket money to the PM Cares Fund. The national fund set up to provide relief to those affected because of Covid-19 pandemic, it has been a remarkable initiative at such an young age.
9-year-old Avni’s parents said, “While we were watching news, Avni, at once told her father she also wants to do something for the starving people as Modi is serving his nation. We donated as per our best possible resources. She said that she wants to do from her own savings, which she had collected as gifts in the form of shaguns and navrartri kanya poojan from her relatives since the last two years to buy a tab. She said “I can buy this (tab) later but now the priority goes to starving people”.
Avni donated a total of Rs. 20000 from her own savings. “We found her initiative very remarkable and lets hope it inspires other students in the country,” said Jodhamal Public School.
Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus in India has risen to 13,387 with 1,749 recoveries and 437 deaths.
