A whopping 2,239 students have scored a perfect 600/600 in the II PU exams in Karnataka, the results of which were announced on Tuesday.
The director of pre-university education, Snehal R and minister for primary and secondary education announced the results for the second PU exams in Bengaluru. The districts that have the highest number of students who have secured a perfect score are from Dakshina Kannada (445), Bengaluru South (302), Bengaluru North (260), Udupi (149) and Hassan (104). Surprisingly, 18 students from the arts stream also secured 600 on 600. 292 commerce students and 1929 students also secured the highest score.

Supplementary exams
Minister for primary and secondary education S Suresh Kumar said that should students be dissatisfied by the scores that have been calculated, they can appear for II PUC exams from August 19. However, if a student opts to write exams, the scores secured in the written exam will be considered final.
Students had urged the department to consider introducing an objective type paper on the lines of class X SSLC for the written exam. However the minister said that the format of exams will remain the same as that of the previous year and students will get a detailed subjective type question paper.
This year over 17,000 students have registered as private candidates. These students will write the exam in person in August.
