May 13, 2020

The deputy chief minister and higher education minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan announced that the Karnataka-Common Entrance Test (K-CET) 2020 will be held on July 30 and 31. The examinations were supposed to be held from April 22 – 24 but were postponed due to the nationwide Covid-19 lockdown.

Over 1.9 lakh students had registered for K-CET which is a gateway for admissions into all the undergraduate professional courses except medical, dental and AYUSH. To ensure social distancing norms are followed, the minister said the number of centres will be increased.

The students have also been using the app and webiste of GetCETGo, a Government of Karnataka initiative launched on April 20 to prepare for CET and NEET. The minister said that the response has been good. The initiative provides free crash courses that includes synopsis, tests, practice examinations and video tutorials and close to 77,000 students have logged in to access the study material since its launch. Over 11,000 people have subscribed to its YouTube channel and close to 2.5 lakh people have viewed the video tutorials.
