Karnataka CM

Chief minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah has announced that a competition on Gandhian thoughts would be conducted for students in Karnataka.

In a letter to Madhu Bangarappa, the state’s minister for school education and literacy, Siddaramaiah has urged that essay competitions be organized for students on the topic of ‘Concerns of the 21st century- Solutions given by Gandhian thoughts.’

He has asked that quick arrangements be made for the same and that the competition be organized for all students except those in class 10 and 12 who will be appearing for board exams. The competition is proposed to take place by the end of this month.

Siddaramaiah said that those who had not participated in India’s Freedom struggle were demeaning Mahatma Gandhi’s contribution and sacrifice.

In his letter, Siddaramaiah called for revival of Gandhian thoughts. “After he was assassinated, the country implemented Mahatma Gandhi’s principles as much as possible. However, in the recent times there has been hatred and violence, centralisation by subjugating decentralisation, and we are at a time when the rights of the downtrodden are taken away, Dalits, women, tribals, labourers and youth are snatched,” Siddaramaiah noted in his letter.
