Not only did he walk the right path of working hard to reap success but he dragged his friends along to perform their best as well. This is what his school describes as Amit Madar’s best trait.
Madar is among the 145 students who have secured a perfect 625 score in class 10 exams, the results of which were announced on Thursday.
Madar was not just any unassuming child at school, but the most lauded by his teachers and an evidently hard-working child, as his teachers say.
This student of Government High School, Jumanaala in rural Vijayapura district has been raised by a single mother, who works as a daily wager to bring bread for her family. No challenge seemed to deter this topper, who aced the exams, to make his family proud.
In his principal’s description, Madar typically comes across as the character of Rancho in the movie Three Idiots.
“One special trait that Madar had was that he would push his friends to always excel. This child does not even have a smartphone at home. He borrowed phones from his uncles. We were certain he would be the one to pin expectations on. He took the initiative to install google meet, organize classes, and also ensured all children were present in the online class. It was not just about him alone, he ensured the other children studied well as well,” recollects C A Rudregoudar, former principal of the school who held charge until recently. Not only this, this student is also a district-level champion in Yoga and volleyball.
“We had only one smartphone at home that belongs to my uncle. My brother who is pursuing his graduation and I shared the phone. My elder brother worked part-time in a bakery to earn an extra bit for the family. I did not attend any private tuitions. I woke up at 5 am every day and studied up to 10 pm. Focusing on school helped me. My elder brother also guided me through,” said Madar.
