Karnataka Exams Authority proposes Aadhaar-linked registration for all exams

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) is pushing forward with its Aadhaar-linked registration proposal to enhance transparency and curb malpractices across the education and recruitment sectors. This initiative will not only authenticate student identities but also improve the distribution of exam-related information, allowing students to receive real-time updates directly to their mobile phones.

By linking Aadhaar to KEA’s registration system, officials hope to minimize fraudulent activities like the recent seat-blocking scam, where many students used identical IP addresses, fake contact details, and other deceptive practices to secure seats in top colleges without actual enrollment intentions. This left many highly sought-after seats vacant, ultimately redirecting them to the management quota where they are sold at significantly higher prices. KEA suspects potential involvement of third-party agents working with college managements in these instances, allowing students to retain seats under questionable circumstances.

Beyond admissions, KEA aims to apply Aadhaar-linked registration to recruitment exams, ensuring authentic participation and reducing impersonation. This measure is expected to uphold fairness in government job recruitments and further strengthen Karnataka’s commitment to integrity within its examination and admissions processes.
