An FIR has been registered against a government school teacher at Bagalkot district in Karnataka in relation to the suicide of a 14-year-old student.
This is in connection with the suicide of a class VIII student at the school on March 16. Allegedly, this came after one of the teachers at the school lost Rs 2,000 in the school and accused students of stealing the same.
One of the teachers at school lost money from her purse when in school. Later, she sought to know if some students had stolen the money. In the process of interrogation, the teacher asked students to promise in the name of god against any wrong doings.
Following the same, students’ bags were checked in the classroom. While it is unclear whether the money was found or not, the girl felt dejected after the incident.
She went home and died by hanging herself at home. Her parents who performed the final rights following the incident did not bring it to the notice of the police soon after the incident.
However, a day after the girl’s final rites were performed, they approached the police and registered a complaint against the teacher Jayashri Mishikoti and Headmaster HM Mujawar at a rural police station in Kadampur village where the incident took place.
