The associated management of private schools in Karnataka (KAMS) has advised private schools across the state to screen the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya live in schools.
In a letter to its member schools, KAMS said that even if no holiday is declared, schools could live stream the event for their students.
“There is a festive atmosphere across the country in the wake of the inauguration. If a holiday is declared for schools, children will only utilize their time with playful activities. Instead, let schools function as usual. For the one to one and half hour period, wherever possible, let a live streaming be organized or children. They will have the opportunity to witness a historic and cultural delight,” said D Shashikumar, general secretary, KAMS.
However, he has appealed that schools must ensure that there is no political connotation attached to the screening of the event and must be reported as is.
Meanwhile, the Registered Unaided Private Schools Association (RUPSA) has also urged the state government to take a stand on the issue of declaring a holiday.
In a letter seeking a holiday, RUPSA’s president Lokesh Talikatte has said, “It is not unknown that the Ayodhya inauguration has invoked a lot of excitement nationwide. A large majority of parents have sought leave on that day to have their children witness the event live on television. We are bound to abide by the state government’s decision in this regard. We want a formal announcement on the state’s decision in this regard.”
