The Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) is expected to announce the SSLC exam 2020 schedule on May 16, 2020. The exams which were initially scheduled to be conducted from March 27 to April 9 had to be postponed due to Covid-19 lockdown.
The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, S Suresh Kumar, said that a meeting with the officials of department of public instruction is scheduled to be conducted on May 16 where discussions on problems related to conducting exams amidst pandemic and finalising the examination schedule will be held.
The Minister further hinted that students might be allowed to appear from the district where they currently are rather than asking them to travel as transportation is problem due to the lockdown.
Earlier, the government said it is planning to start revision classes online for SSLC students shortly. Umashankar S, principal secretary, primary and secondary education, Government of Karnataka said they are collating all the resources for online education. “We want to run some classes for the SSLC students who would be attending examinations so that they can revise the subjects. We are checking and collecting all material that can be used for online classes. We should be starting it shortly, say in a week’s time,” he said adding that apart from this, they have launched a YouTube channel where they will share content to engage the students.
The YouTube channel Makkala Vaani will share videos of 30 to 60 minutes every day. The Karnataka Education Minister Suresh Kumar S had recently announced about the YouTube channel and urged teachers, startups and others to contribute content so that they can keep the students engaged and continue the learning process during the national lockdown.
