Karnataka SSLC preparatory exam papers allegedly leaked

The question papers of Karnataka’s state-level SSLC preparatory exam have allegedly been leaked online, and schools are claiming that the question paper was made available on various social media platforms a day before the exams.

The preparatory exams for class X state board schools facilitated by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board commenced on February 25 and went on upto March 4. During these exams, multiple reports emerged that the papers of these exams have been leaked online.

However, even amid such growing allegations, the board has not issued a statement in this regard.

D Shashikumar, general secretary, Associated Management of Private Schools in Karnataka alleged that science, social studies and English papers were leaked online.

“We have gathered these videos from social media platforms including Youtube and Instagram. The modus operandi has changed and made a shift from printed paper leaks to online ones. It is appalling that one day after the videos were brought to the notice of the commissioner of education, they were taken offline and cannot be accessed. The latest trend is also that the leaked papers match only 80 percent with the original paper so that they do not raise any suspicions,” he said.

Social media platforms are replete with videos that do not specifically have any hashtags or keywords indicative of the SSLC exams being in circulation.

Meanwhile, another source expressed dismay over the authority vested in those setting the question papers and said that this was part of a bigger mafia. “There are several people who are setting question papers from several years for the board. They rule the SSLC pattern. Ironically, they are also visiting faculty at private coaching centres where students are hinted at what areas must be focused on. No curbs are imposed on them. The system itself needs clean-up,” he said.
