As many as 83.89% students who appeared for the SSLC (class 10 state board) exams have passed the exams, according to officials.
The results of SSLC exams were announced on Monday by the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board in Bengaluru.
Although the previous year’s percentage was 85.13% the board believes the results have improved and have justified the same.
In a note, KSEAB has said, “Difficulty level of question papers during 2019-20 and 2020-21 was 20% and 10% respectively. For 2022-23, it was set at 20% again. Hence, it is inferred that the performance of students has increased 12.09% when compared to 2019-20.” The difficulty level was reduced last year owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
While girls have secured a 87.87% pass percentage, that among boys is lower at 80.08%. Students in rural Karnataka have outperformed those in Urban areas by 8% margin.
Four students have secured a perfect 625 marks this year in the SSLC exams.
No government school has declared a 0% pass percentage while 11 aided and 23 unaided schools have had no students pass the exams.
Board authorities said that even this year, a 10% grace marks is given to students in three subjects to push them to pass exams in case they fail to secure the minimum passing mark. Students must apply for photocopies of papers before May 14.
Chitradurga district has secured a 96.8% has pass percentage topping the table among all districts. This is followed by -96.71% in Mandya and 96.68# Hassan. Yadgiri secured the lowest 78.83%.
