KCET 2021 in August, only KCET for professional courses admission

Karnataka reopen colleges from November 17

Putting an end to apprehensions pertaining to admissions into professional colleges, Karnataka’s higher education department has decided that only scores in the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) would be considered for admission.

Taking to Twitter, deputy chief minister and minister for higher education, Dr C N Ashwathnarayan said that the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) will be held on August 28, 29, and 30 in over 500 centers across the state.

On August 28, students will appear for Biology and Mathematics papers, on August 29, exams are scheduled for Physics and Chemistry and on August 30, Karnataka Exams for Gadinadu and Horanadu Kannadigas is scheduled.

This year, minister for primary and secondary education, S Suresh Kumar had announced that results for second PU students will be tabulated based on their scores in first PU final exams and that instead of percentage, they would be given grades (A+, A, B and C).

Ashwanthnarayan said that only KCET marks will be considered for admissions into professional courses this year. “We are taking necessary measures for admissions into graduate colleges and other courses,” he said.

Responding to this, Suresh Kumar said that it is a welcome move and is in the interest of students. “Instilling confidence in the mind of students was the need of the hour. This decision has been taken keeping the student’s interest in mind.”

Meanwhile, requests to keep the KCET questions easy was a request that students made. “There has been a lot of delays already since we last attended classes. Although we have done several rounds of revision, it is tough to revise the first PU syllabus again. Please be considerate while framing questions as students have faced a lot of untoward incidents due to the pandemic,” said Faizan, one of the students.

Students seeking admission into degree courses such as BCom, BA, and BSc also sought that clarity be given regarding the parameters for admission.
