Korea Tourism Organisation, KTO, India, an organization of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recently organized a webinar in collaboration with EducationWorld and invited schools across India to visit Korea for educational tours.
“South Korea is educationally advanced. They spend over five per cent of their GDP on education,” said Summiya Yasmeen, managing editor of EducationWorld. The country has ranked seventh highest on the Human Development index in the Asian region.
“It is also an emerging education hub in Asia with a highly developed kindergarten to university education system. In fact, South Korea is one of the top-performing countries in reading, literacy, mathematics and science. One of its popular universities, Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, have ranked among the world’s top 200 universities in the world,” added Summiya Yasmeen.
There is also a support programme for educational tours under Korea Tourism Organization Group Support Project for elementary, middle, high school, or university students visiting Korea with a minimum of fifteen people.
Young Geul Choi, Director KTO, said that the organization is presently focused on restarting tourism, promoting free independent travellers (FITs) travel to Korea further channelising the K-Wave to convert tourism to Korea.
Dooyoun Hwang, president, US Travel-Korea, said, “K-pop, food, cuisines and fashion has been attracting young kids for a long time. Its safe and clean environment, four dedicated seasons, long history, the country’s cultural heritage, global peace and infrastructure are sure to appeal to institutions to choose Korea for their children.”
Agatha Brendon Lee, Sales and head Head of MICE Team, Jane Tours, Korea said the history, modern infrastructure, culture and traditions, Seoul’s nightlife, extremely hospitable people makes it one of favourite place for students and others alike. She further added, that there are many students interested in other cultures, which leads to active exchanges with Korean students.
The KTO was established in 1962 as a government-invested corporation responsible for the South Korean tourism industry according to the International Tourism Corporation Act. The organization promotes Korea as a tourist destination to attract foreign tourists.
