Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) are planning to reopen schools across India from November 2, as per sources. The process to assess the situation has started and reports are being collected. However, the schools would initially reopen for students of classes 9 to 12.
There are a about 1250 KVs and 650 JNVs in the country in which about almost 15 lakh students are enrolled. JNVs are residential schools and would also require to follow the SOPs for hostels besides, the other guidelines as issued by the Central Government.
With the nod received from the Central Government, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education, the central schools have started collecting feedback from the stakeholders.
Following the Unlock 4.0 Guidelines which stated that reopening of schools on voluntary basis for students of classes 9 to 12 is allowed, the KVs had earlier decided to reopen the schools from September 21. However, the parents had been unwilling and the plans were shelved and schools continued to offer online classes.
The schools have again reached out to the parents, teachers and other authorities within the districts to consider the situation and provide feedback on reopening of the schools.
