On June 16, Macmillan Education – part of Berlin headquartered Springer Nature and one of the world’s leading publishers of English Language teaching and school curriculum materials – announced its foray into the English language training market in India through the launch of its Language Learning Resources for the Indian market.
Pioneers in the education sector with over 170 years of experience and presence in 50 countries across the world, Macmillan Education, will now offer its global repository of Language Learning resources to Indian students.
Macmillan aims to reach over 10 lakh students in the next 3 to 5 years, accessing the huge language learning space in India. The ELT market an estimated Rs. 30000 Crore in India, is growing annually at 19 percent CAGR. The company aims to increase its market share to over 10 percent in the K-12 market and simultaneously capture 5 percent of the Higher Education and Vocational market over the next three years, through its strategic foray in the language learning market.
Speaking about the venture, Jeremy Dieguez, MD, Global Education Group at Macmillan Education said, “Macmillan has a 124-year long association with India. Given our sizeable presence here and our market understanding, we expect our ELT products to find a ready market and are excited to be able to offer Indian students, international quality ELT education.”
What’s unique about Macmillan’s Language Learning tools is the flexibility they offer to customers – Macmillan Practice Online and Macmillan English Campus (MEC). MEC is an intuitive language learning platform with graded online material for ELT. Currently there are 100000 students enrolled on MEC and 150 ELT institutions accessing 60 courses. What is different about MEC is the flexibility that it offers institutions to integrate ELT into their syllabus and students to approach learning at their own pace. MPO offers individual students the opportunity to cherry pick ELT courses in General English, Business English and Exams and learn anytime anywhere.
Speaking about the initiative, Emma Bourne, MD, Schools at Macmillan Education said, “For India’s demographics to pay dividends – employability is the key.
