The India subsidiary of the UK-based Zamit, an edtech platform, claims to have empowered 59,000 students and 1,333 educators in India through its innovative e-learning solutions focused on skills development. IIT-K-SAIL MoU Kanpur, July 26. The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-K) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the public sector Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) for collaboration in research, development, and consultancy projects. “This collaboration with SAIL marks a significant step in advancing IIT-Kanpur’s engagement with industry. Universal Ai-RDS joint venture Mumbai, June 4. Universal AI University, which bills itself as India’s first artificial intelligence university, signed an agreement with French design school Rubika to establish a Rubika Design School (RDS) on its Karjat campus. Rubika is a globally reputed French design school with campuses in France, Canada and Reunion Island. RDS will offer a four-year Bachelor of Design (B.Des), and integrated five-year Master of Design (M.Des) programmes in Transportation Design, Product Design, UX/UI Design, Animation, Video Games Art and Video Games Design. This expansion will impact over 13,000 classes VI-VIII students in 30 districts of Karnataka. The Madhya Pradesh government’s Department of Tribal Affairs, which oversees education in tribal blocks, has partnered with the Magic Bus India Foundation (MBIF), to train a cadre of master trainers and government school teachers, equipping them to deliver life skills education to nurture adolescents in 20 districts and 89 tribal blocks in the state. Under a memorandum of understanding, MBIF will train 18,000 government school teachers to impart life skills to 1,000,000 adolescents in 9,000 government schools. This partnership, supported by the Echidna Group, will span four years, with the initial phase encompassing 20 districts and 53 blocks. Griffith University, Australia signed MOUs with two of India’s top-ranked higher ed institutions — Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) — when its delegation led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Carolyn Evans visited India recently. The agreement with IISc will build on an existing collaboration between Griffith’s Australian Rivers Institute and the IISc’s Water Solutions Lab. The partnership will explore the potential for a dual postgraduate degree program, which will enable eligible Indian students to complete their postdoctoral degree at Griffith in Australia, enabling students to be certified by both institutions and acquire valuable international experience. The Australia-based IDP and British Council, hitherto partners of IELTS, the world’s most popular English language proficiency test, have announced that the council will sell its IELTS business in India to IDP. Under terms of the agreement, IDP will acquire 100 percent of British Council’s India IELTS business for £130 million (Rs.1,341 crore) on a debt-free, cash-free basis.
