A Centre for Invention, Innovation , Incubation and Training (CIIT) will soon be set up at Ramtek in Nagpur District with private participation through Tata Technology Limited.
A memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to this effect was signed in the presence of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis by project head Sushil Kumar, Tata Technology Limited and district collector Dr. Vipin Itankar on behalf of the Maharashtra government.
The facility will train 3,000 students in cutting edge technology every year and promote industrial production, noted chief minister Fadnavis.
“This centre will provide opportunities for cutting-edge training to students from rural areas and create a pool of highly skilled manpower for the state,” Fadnavis stated.
The project will have nine types of training facilities including innovation, design and incubation. Skill development centres have already been set up by Tata Technology Limited in Gadchiroli and Chandrapur in Maharashtra as well as in Karnataka,Tamil Nadu, Bihar,Goa, Assam,Uttar Pradesh and Telangana.
The Skill Development Centre at Ramtek is a Rs 115 crore project of which Rs 98 crore will be provided by Tata Technologies Limited.
“The project will prioritise the growing need for skilled manpower and will train engineers, operators, technicians and manpower required in the manufacturing sector. It will create resources in the industry and highly skilled entrepreneurs,” said Sushil Kumar, project head, Tata Technologies.
Top officials who graced the MOU signing ceremony were guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, minister of state for finance and planning Ashish Jaiswal and project coordinator Pritam Ganjewar.
