The Maharashtra government has partnered with the Rosy Blue Foundation to start a solar energy project in Zilla Parishad schools in a Naxal-affected district. The project will benefit around 1,470 students in eight primary schools and two high schools in Dhanora and Mohali in Gadchiroli district.
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis praised Shloka Mehta Ambani and Maniti Shah, co-founders of the Rosy Blue Foundation’s ‘Connect For’ NGO for their support in strengthening educational infrastructure in Gadchiroli, which has been declared an ‘Aspirational District’ by NITI Aayog.
Gadchiroli Zilla Parishad chief executive officer Suhas Gade said the project will provide “uninterrupted facilities for teaching and digital educational activities in the schools,” reducing their dependence on power supply.
Shloka Mehta is married to Akash Ambani, eldest son of Mukesh and Nita Ambani. She is a director in her family owned Belgian-headquartered diamond trading company Rosy Blue, whose NGO Connect For, is an online platform that connects volunteers with NGOs.
