Maharashtra’s higher and technical education minister Chandrakantdada Patil has asked university authorities across the state to complete an integrated digital dashboard covering the recruitment process and administrative work within the next fortnight.
The dashboard will be the focal point “for digital transparency in higher education, speeding up the faculty recruitment process and improving academic quality, “, he said.
He was speaking at a conference held at Mumbai University on ‘Developed Maharashtra Vision 2047 and the Role and Contribution of Universities in Higher Education.’
Among those present were the vice chancellors and pro-vice chancellors of various universities in Maharashtra as well as additional chief secretary in the higher and technical education department B. Venugopal Reddy, principal secretary of the chief minister’s office Ashwini Bhide, director of technical education Dr. Vinod Mohitkar, director of higher education Dr. Shailendra Devlankar, and director of the Directorate of Arts, Dr. Kishore Ingle.
Minister Patil said dashboard completion on schedule is mandatory for all universities. Accordingly, independent teams of two members will be appointed in each university to check information and ensure the accuracy of the statistics on the dashboard. Universities should regularly review their work he said, adding that “an integrated review meeting will be held every three months to yield good results. ”
Also, as the National Song Vande Mataram is completing 150 years, universities should organise special cultural and educational activities, minister Patil said.
Additional chief secretary Reddy called on universities to check the dashboard in detail, adding that all pending issues should be resolved by November 30.
