Eleven courses are being implemented through the Pune headquartered Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Research and Training Institute (MahaJyoti) of which six courses are being offered offline and five courses online, informed Other Backward Classes Welfare Minister Atul Save during the Question Hour of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
Minister Save was answering a question raised in this regard by members Rahul Kul, Vijay Wadettiwar, Randhir Savarkar, Dhananjay Munde, and Jayant Patil.
Offline classes are held for examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), Army recruitment etc. while online training is provided to students appearing for examinations like Banking (IBPS), Staff Selection Commission, Railway Recruitment Board, and Teacher Eligibility/Substitute Test.
The minister said that though all the related examinations are offline, the facility of online training has been started for the benefit of rural and distant students who cannot afford to reside in the city.
Regarding IIT-JEE training, Save said 3,500 students are enrolled in a renowned training center located in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. The cost of this initiative is Rs 20 crore.
A quota of 100 students has been fixed for UPSC training and 400 for MPSC through Mahajyoti. A fund of about Rs 300 crore has been approved for this scheme. Shortfalls, if any, will be met by the finance department under deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.
As regards the pending stipend of PhD students, about Rs 31.91 crore has been disbursed till June 30, 2025, minister Save said.
