Maharashtra Tribal Development Dept & Karadi Path to launch Magic English Programme

On November 8, Maharashtra Tribal Development Department and Chennai based Karadi Path Education Company Pvt. Ltd entered into a collaboration to kick start Karadi Path’s Magic English-SLL (Secondary Language Learners) programme across 132 Ashram and Ekalavya Schools in Maharashtra. The programme is expected to impact over 50,000 students and 500 teachers from these schools. The Magic English SLL programme is specially designed for students with minimal exposure to English from their environment or teachers who have may have limited English proficiency to increase their scope of English learning.
Karadi Path ME SLL will be implemented in 118 schools from Jawhar, Dahanu, Shahpur, Nandurbar regions. It will also be implemented in 14 Ekalavya schools across Maharashtra.

Inaugurating the programme, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Phadnavis said, “While India has many official languages, we are the second-largest English speaking country. English is playing an increasingly important role in our economy and push to conquer for global frontiers. Hence, imparting quality English education is of prime importance for our children. It is an absolute pleasure for us to announce this association with Karadi Path Education Company. Students coming from lesser privileged backgrounds have a poor command over the language which affects their confidence negatively. Being able to speak the language correctly will improve not only their confidence but also improve their outlook towards exploring opportunities in life. We really hope that this helps our children in breaking all barriers and actually achieve what they dream of.”

Commenting on the partnership, CP Viswanath, director, Karadi Path said, “We are elated to collaborate with Maharashtra Tribal Development Department. After 16 years of research in language learning based on how Indians acquire multiple language proficiency, the Karadi Path methodology is now being acknowledged as an easier, quicker and better way to learn a language. The Karadi Path methodology mimics the way we learn our mother tongue. It is experiential, communicative and enjoyable for the child. Today Karadi Path has grown rapidly to be implemented across several states in over 2600 schools impacting over 600,000 children. Delivering English proficiency to over 40,000 tribal children in Maharashtra can impact their lives in a very big way.”

Karadi Path has been identified by Project Literacy Lab, San Francisco, USA, as one of the top 16 educational enterprises in the world that can close the global literacy gap by 2030. Karadi Path has bagged the Sankalp Award 2014 in the Education category for its exemplary work.
