Words of appreciation
Thanks for the Kidzone section — it’s interesting and enjoyable. My children love solving the puzzles and DIY creative activity. They also found Fritzee’s Fact File very informative.

Moreover, I enjoy reading the ‘Ask the Doctor’ column every month. The August column by Dr. Ridhi Kaur about developing good sleeping and eating habits in children was very useful as was her advice about the importance of physical activity in limited play areas.

Timely cover story
Your August cover story ‘Safeguarding children against monsoon ailments’ was timely and relevant. The monsoon season is the time when children are struck down by viral, water borne and respiratory infections.

Personally, I have observed that since start of the academic year coincides with monsoon rains, my children are extremely vulnerable to viruses that thrive in the wet season and invariably fall ill in the very first or second week start of the school year.

I am very thankful to all your health and wellness experts for their valuable advice to protect children from monsoon afflictions.

Valuable recommendation
Your Resources feature recommending best science learning apps (PW August) was well worth the read.

As the mother of a four-year-old who is curious about everything, I found the app recommendation for Khan Academy Kids very valuable. The app offers access to a vast library of interactive lessons, age-appropriate educational games, and engaging stories for children to explore scientific concepts.

Healthy snack foods
I tried your ‘Nutri-rich Indian snacks (PW August) recipes with great success. Both my children loved your rava paniyaram and avial milk and asked for multiple helpings! Please share more recipes of nutrient-rich snack foods.

I am trying my best to restrict my children from consuming junk food such as french fries and aerated beverages. Therefore alternative healthy snack options would be much appreciated!

Swiss attractions
Although our last visit to Switzerland over a decade ago was a whistle-stop tour, I was sufficiently blown away with your pictures of Lake Zurich and the Swiss Alps in your Leisure & Travel section (PW August) to plan another tour. For a die-hard chocoholic and connoisseur of cheeses, what better place to visit other than the Lindt Home of Chocolate and the Appenzell Museum — two big omissions of our first visit!

Important omission
As a parent of a young social media influencer, I enjoyed reading the Special Essay on “Developing social media habits’ (PW August).

However authors Carmel Taddeo and Barbara Spears have failed to address the unique challenges that influencers like my 14-year-old faces.

Given the high level of online engagement of children, it’s imperative for parents to go beyond merely monitoring digital screen usage. From my own experience, actively participating in content creation has helped ensure healthy online interactions of my daughter.

Creative hobby insights
My daughter has just turned two. I believe this is the right time to introduce her to a hobby that entails creative use of mind and emotions. Therefore your story on ‘Importance of pursuing creative hobbies’ proved very insightful (PW August).

I would so love my daughter to pursue a creative hobby like singing, playing a musical instrument, acting, craftwork, working with plants and animals early in life so she can excel in it or even make it her vocation.

Together with her, I also plan to pursue a hobby of my choice.
