A 22-year-old man has been apprehended for allegedly posting manipulated images of a college student and her female friends on a social media platform after she rejected his romantic advances in Khanapur district. The accused, employed at a private firm in Bengaluru, had been pursuing the girl, a fellow resident of his hometown, for some time.
After she declined his proposal, he resorted to threatening her, stating, “I will take revenge on you.” To fulfill this threat, he used images from her social media account, morphed them with nude pictures of models using Photoshop, and created a fake social media profile in her name, sharing the manipulated images.
The accused employed the same tactic to intimidate two of her female friends. Superintendent of Police (Belagavi), Bheemashankar Guled, stated that the arrest was made based on the victim’s complaint, leading to the registration of a case against the accused.
