Union Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, has announced the initiation of a Collaboration Agreement between the University of Liverpool and AIIMS New Delhi, forming the “AIIMS Liverpool Collaborative Centre for Translational Research in Head and Neck Cancer – ALHNS.”
This collaborative effort builds upon the existing ties between the Liverpool Head and Neck Centre (LNHC), University of Liverpool, and the Head and Neck Cancer Unit at AIIMS New Delhi. ALHNS aims to impact the treatment of head and neck cancer patients by leveraging resources from both institutions to develop joint research and education programs, enhancing the quality of outputs and education. The initiative also seeks to establish common standard operating procedures (SOPs) for accessing high-quality clinical datasets and tissue repositories from two ethnically diverse populations, addressing different cancer-causing factors.
Additionally, ALHNS aims to articulate shared strategic goals, fostering cutting-edge medical innovation and personalized cancer treatments. The event was attended by Ms. Christina Scott, British Deputy High Commissioner to India, Prof. Dr. M Srinivas, Director of AIIMS New Delhi, Prof. Tim Jones, Vice Chancellor of the University of Liverpool, Prof. Alok Thakar, Head of NCI-AIIMS, and senior officials from the Union Health Ministry, along with faculty members of AIIMS New Delhi.
