Maratha activist Manoj Jarange announced on Monday his intention to commence an indefinite fast for quota rights in Mumbai on January 26, choosing either Azad Maidan or Shivaji Park ground as the venue. Speaking in Antarwali Sarati village, the epicenter of the Maratha quota agitation led by him, Jarange shared the details of the upcoming protest.

Members of the Maratha community will embark on their journey from Antarwali Sarati village on January 20, with a portion on foot and the remainder using vehicles. The goal is to reach Mumbai by January 26, and Jarange himself will commence the walk from Antarwali Sarati village on January 20.

The plan outlined by Jarange includes starting the agitation at 9 am on January 20, with participants walking until noon daily. Subsequently, they will use vehicles to travel to the next destination for an overnight stay.

Marathas have persistently protested for reservations in government jobs and education under the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.
