Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Science (MAIDS) is a public/government medical/dental college and was the first of its kind to win the FICCI excellence award. Declared as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ under the government of NCT, Delhi, it was also ranked first among dental colleges in India by NIRF and India Today in 2020. Initially a part of Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), the dental wing was separated in 2003 as Maulana Azad Dental College and Hospital and was granted independent status under the Government of NCT of Delhi. It was granted the status of an autonomous institute in 2006 and was renamed Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences. The institute offers a large variety of UG and PG programmes with multiple specializations, the admission to which are all entrance-based (NEET). Apart from the academic excellence MAIDS has thrived upon, community and research activities have been a significant part of the Institute. As the research activity becomes more focused, a number of new research projects are being taken up in the institute. At the community level, MAIDS is the pacesetter for “Mobile Dental Clinics Project” under National Health Mission Scheme (NHM), the project that targets the highest population density zones of North East district of Delhi. In addition, the phase-II of MAIDS is in the culmination phase of completion and with that will lead to further expansion and refinement in oral health services, education and research. A significant and influential contribution is being made by the Institute towards the ‘National Oral Health Policy’ and ‘National Oral Health Program’ in India.
Campus
Situated on 30 acres in Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Delhi, MAIDS houses in-campus hostel accommodation for boys and girls. Academic facilities include an operation theatre and the following laboratories- porcelain lab, polymerization lab and preclinical labs among other medical facilities. The campus has an auditorium and amphitheater for hosting special events. Other facilities include a cafeteria, library and sports facilities such as a basketball court.

Undergraduate Programmes: Bachelor of Dental Surgery- B.D.S. Postgraduate Programmes: Master of Dental Surgery- M.D.S. Placements: Recent placement highlights: the median CTC offered to B.D.S. students was recorded at INR 12.72 LPA, while the median CTC for M.D.S stood at INR 16.6 LPA for 2020 placements. 2020 placement statistics were better than 2019, where median CTC for B.D.S. was INR 11.63 LPA and that for M.D.S. was INR 15.05 LPA.

Undergraduate Admission- B.D.S. Selection Criteria: NEET UG score/rank. Eligibility: 10+2 with PCB (English compulsory) from a recognised board with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks. Admission Procedure:
- Candidates must register and appear for the NEET UG exam and secure a valid score.
- After securing a valid score/rank, MCC shall release institute-specific cut-offs and candidates have to register online to participate in the B.D.S. counselling process for the allocation of seats. Candidates offered seats may complete registration and admission by submitting and verifying required documents and paying the requisite fees.
- Candidates must register and appear for the NEET PG exam and secure a valid score.
- After securing a valid score/rank, candidates have to register online to participate in the M.D.S. counselling process for the allocation of seats. Only those candidates offered seats in DU-affiliated colleges may register online at fmsc.ac.in and complete registration and admission by submitting and verifying required documents and paying the requisite fees.
