Mayo College, in collaboration with the Boarding Schools’ Association of India (BSAI), successfully organised a one-day life saving and basic first aid in sports workshop on Friday, August 1.
The workshop brought together 35 participants from eight BSAI member schools and was designed to equip them with essential life-saving and emergency response skills in the context of school sports. The sessions covered:
- Basic first aid practices
- CPR techniques
- Management of common sports-related injuries
- Poolside life-saving protocols
Led by certified Rashtriya Life Saving Society (RLSS) trainers, the workshop was interactive and practice-oriented, ensuring participants could confidently apply their learning in real-life situations. While the primary participants were coaches and physical education teachers, the active involvement of senior students from participating schools was especially appreciated. Their enthusiasm and engagement reflected their ability to contribute meaningfully towards creating a safer sporting environment within their schools.
This initiative highlights the shared commitment of Mayo College, BSAI, and RLSS to promoting safety, preparedness, and life-saving competence in school communities. The programme was well-received and represents a significant step towards strengthening health and safety culture across BSAI member institutions.
