The Meghalaya government plans to incorporate QR codes into school textbooks, enabling students to access additional information using smartphones, a senior official announced on Wednesday.
According to Education Secretary A Marak, this initiative aims to improve students’ time management skills and empower them with supplementary learning options.
“We are integrating QR codes into school textbooks that will contain extra information on specific subjects. The goal is to enhance students’ ability to manage their time effectively and access further knowledge as per their interests,” Marak explained to PTI.
“By scanning QR codes with their mobile devices, students can access educational apps featuring video lessons and solved question papers. This will streamline the process of finding study materials and allow students to focus more on learning,” he added.
Director of the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), R Manner, highlighted the advantages of QR codes embedded in textbooks, emphasizing their potential to greatly assist students in enhancing their understanding of specific subjects.
Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma praised the initiative, affirming the government’s dedication to providing comprehensive educational resources to students in Meghalaya.
