The MET Institute of Mass Media (MET IMM) has received a World Record from the Global Book of Excellence, England, for a student-led sustainable trophy initiative.
The Certificate of World Record was presented at the MET Bandra Campus by Shrikant Kale, Secretary of the Global Book of Excellence. Hon. Trustee Pankaj Bhujbal accepted the recognition on behalf of the institute.
Ahead of METamorphosis 2025, scheduled from 11 to 13 December, students created a 9.5-foot trophy weighing 350 kg using e-waste and eco-friendly materials. The structure was built live on 18 November during a six-hour installation at MET Bhujbal Knowledge City, Bandra, and was unveiled on 5 December.
A team of 69 students worked across media, design, production, communication and fabrication to develop the installation. The initiative was guided by the vision of Trustee Pankaj Bhujbal, with support from Senior Management Representative Vishaka Bhujbal and academic mentorship from Director Priya Menon Nair. Visual artist Sumeet Patil advised the students on artistic and structural aspects.
At the unveiling, Trustee Pankaj Bhujbal said the recognition reflects the institute’s commitment to its mission and dedicated the award to Founder Chairman Chaggan Bhujbal.
Student leaders Ronak Thakkar and Althea Sequeira, along with their team, continue to manage the preparations for METamorphosis 2025, themed “Mediaverse – Where Thoughts Glow and Time Flows.” The sustainable trophy will be awarded to the Best College in Mumbai based on overall performance across cultural, media, intellectual, journalism and sports categories.
