The Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) has been declared as a containment zone by the Udupi district health official after 59 cases were reported from the campus.
“33 persons including 27 found COVID19 positive at Manipal Institute of Technology, Udupi district yesterday. District health administration has declared the MIT campus as a containment zone,” District Health Officer of Udupi told ANI.
The notification issued by Udupi Deputy Commissioner read, “Faculty and essential duty staff of MIT campus are allowed in the campus with proper pass/identification.”
The MIT management has decided to move all theoretical classes online and have notified students that practical sessions and laboratory classes will be postponed. The Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) administration has also decided to reschedule pending exams for the first semester B.Tech students to another date.
