Mizoram: Finance Minister emphasises on skill development to reduce unemployment

On September 18, Mizoram Finance Minister H Liansailova emphasised the need for skill development and job-oriented educational courses to reduce unemployment among the Mizo youth.

Inaugurating the first ever ‘Mizoram Skills Expo, 2013’ in Aizawl, the state capital, Liansailova said that the youths should go for better jobs outside the state and abroad.

Haukhuma Hauzel, member secretary of the state Planning Board and Chairman of the Mizoram Skill Development Society (MSDS), quoting records of the employment exchanges said that there were more than 50,000 unemployed youths in the state.

“It would be impossible to accommodate all the unemployed people in the government, private companies in the state and traditional occupations,” Hauzel said, adding that they should hone their skills to find lucrative jobs in other parts of the country and abroad.
