The Ministry of Education has introduced a unique opportunity for school students nationwide to embark on a seven-day study tour to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alma mater in Vadnagar, Gujarat. The newly launched online portal is open to students in classes 9 to 12 who wish to participate in the “Prerana: An Experiential Learning Program.”
The program, hosting a batch of 20 students weekly (10 girls and 10 boys), is designed to provide a meaningful and inspiring experience while fostering leadership qualities. Rooted in the principles of the Indian education system and the values outlined in the National Education Policy 2020, Prerana’s curriculum, crafted by IIT Gandhi Nagar, centers around nine value-based themes.
The initiative aims to inspire youth and instill respect for India’s diversity, reflecting the ethos of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (the world is one family). The program operates from a Vernacular School in Vadnagar, established in 1888 and attended by Prime Minister Modi. The school stands as a testament to Vadnagar’s resilience and is a tribute to the city’s indomitable spirit.
Prerana’s day-wise schedule includes yoga, mindfulness, and meditation sessions, coupled with experiential learning, thematic sessions, and hands-on activities. Evening activities feature visits to ancient sites, film screenings, creative endeavors, talent shows, and more, fostering a holistic learning approach.
The selection process involves three stages: registration, talent exhibition through multi-modal activities, and personal interviews to assess personality and suitability for the program. The initiative seeks to imbue students with a deep appreciation for India’s rich civilization, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Modi, an alumnus of the school.
