UGC chairman M Jagadesh Kumar announced that a record 11,51,319 candidates have registered and 9,13,540 candidates have paid the application fee for CUET-UG. The National Testing Agency (NTA) concluded the registration process for the Common University Entrance Test(CUET) 2022 on May 22.
Applications have come in from every state and union territory. Even rural and remote area candidates have applied for the examination which is scheduled to be held in the month of July, said Mr Kumar.
Talking about easing the stress of students for getting through top universities of India, he said, “Now, there is no burden of scoring high marks in the range of 99 to 100% in board exams as students can now try for admission in best of the universities through CUET. Earlier, it was not possible for students to get through top universities if they did not score very high marks in their boards. But now it is within reach.”
He further stated that the participation of a large number of universities too is very encouraging. In the coming years, more universities are expected to adopt CUET.

Suggesting the possibility of CUET being conducted twice a year, the UGC chairman further said, “With the possibility that CUET will be conducted twice in a year and this will further help the students to plan and attempt CUET,” said the UGC chairman in a tweet.
