More than 600 students attend SAITED 2022 at SAI International

SAI International hosted the 6th edition of one of India’s biggest K-12 Science and Technology fest SAITED 2022, on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, with the theme “Transcending every dimension”. This was a day-long, student driven event managed by the students of class XI from the science stream with handholding support from mentors. The teams were divided into eleven corporate structured departments each with a different portfolio and headed by a Director and guided by Chairman, MD, CEOs and Secretary. There was a Marketing team, a Finance team, an Advertising team, IT team, Logistic team, Cyber Security, Cultural, Technology, Medicine, CSR and Research team. The annual event gave the students a mega platform to discuss and showcase their ideas, experiences, observations and findings through various activities.

SAITED 2022 was graced by the chief guest Appavuraj Ramachandran, Chairman – CEPTAM, DRDO. Shri Ramachandran declared the event open for all and delivered the Ted talk post the inauguration ceremony. While addressing the students and appreciating the event Ramachandran said, “There is a lot to emulate from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam no. one being the determination he had, his high moral values, simplicity, his vision, and above all his love for the nation, and his Nation First attitude. If children adopt these values, then they can achieve any goal they set.”

A Crime Forensic Workshop was conducted by DCP Bhubaneswar Pratik Singh (IPS) himself for the SAI International Students. He congratulated the students for the SAITED 2022 event which had a gamut of activities and workshop related to science and technology.

This year’s event hosted over 631 students from 15+ schools from across the state showcasing more than 120 projects at the Science exhibition. Schools from Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan were also a part of this mega event with their project on “Global Neural Network for the Treatment of Breast Cancer” and “Technological Innovation for Eco System and Health of Iconic OAV”. Students from various school displayed their innovative projects and were felicitated in the closing ceremony of SAITED 2022. There were projects from DM School, St. Xavier’s Kedargouri, St. Xaviers Higher Secondary School, Cuttack, DAV, Chandrashekharpur, Kendriya Vidyalaya 1, ODM Global School, ODM Public School, Prabhujee English Medium School, Mother’s Public School, Future Bhubaneswar School,  SAI International Residential School, and SAI International School.

Children from Pratibha Ashram a childcare home for the homeless presented a mesmerizing opening dance for the audience at SAITED 2022.

The brainchild of the Founder-Chairman, SAI International Education Group, Late Dr. Bijaya Kumar Sahoo, SAITED started in the year 2016 is now India’s largest school-based science and technology festival.

The annual mega event SAITED was divided into two segments, one included science-based activities, workshops, competitions. The other was TED Talks, and panel discussion in which experts in the field of science, technology and medicines gave valuable inputs to the students. 

Activities like Ted Talk, Panel discussion by renowned doctors, Tech Fair, Science workshops by eminent personalities, e-Games, Space Walk, Celebrity Performance, Stand-Up Comedy by India one of the top comics Sahil Shah and Fun Games with myriad of interesting science-based games also gave a unique blend of fun with learning.

As a Med Talk a panel discussion was held by Dr. Sambit K Das, Chief Operating Officer at Modern Health Care LCC, from OMAN, Muscat, Dr. Kalidutta Das, a Spine Surgeon based in New Delhi, Dr. Sampat Dash, Consultant Pulmonology and Critical Care at Ashwini Hospital from Cuttack, and Dr. Amrit Pattojoshi, M.B.B.S., D.P.M., MD-Psychiatry,  Dept of Psychiatry, Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital, Bhubaneswar on the topic “Post Covid Health Analysis”.

Students asked questions to the doctors such as, “People who suffered from tuberculosis already & got infected with COVID virus, how challenging was it for the doctors to cure the patients & what implications were faced henceforth?”, “With large population working from home during the pandemic, a significant jump in the incidences of back pain and neck has been reported. What do you suggest people do to keep a check on postures while working?”, “What would be a few of your suggestions for students to have better mental health and cope up with anxiety they face when overwhelmed?” and more.

SAITED aimed to promote STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Maths), orient, educate, and prepare school students towards becoming future innovators, researchers, consultants, and designers in their preferred field. Students got an opportunity to present their ideas and research works based on the theme and obtained valuable advice to strengthen their work.

In the past, SAITED had been graced by eminent personalities like British Research Scientist, Presenter, Author Prof. Lewis Dartnell, Space Scientist and NASA Astronaut, Dr. Jack D. Fischer, Prof. Michael D. Smith, Professor of Information Technology and Marketing at Carnegie Mellon University from USA,   Dr. Karen Yeates co-Founder and co-Director of the Queen’s University School of Medicine Office of Global Health, Canada Dr. Prasant Mohapatra, the Vice-Chancellor at the University of California, Davis, USA and many others.

Addressing the students at SAITED 202 Dr. Silpi Sahoo, Chairperson, SAI International Education Group said ” I am happy to see my SAIoneers are back in the fields and have oganised this mega SAITED 2022. Every batch of SAIoneer is taking the vision of our founder ahead and training themselves to become the leaders of the future. Every child is a leader and is innovative, we as facilitators give wings to their critical thinking abilities, creative minds, and scientific temperament by holding events like SAITED”.

The event gave the students an excellent opportunity to interact with luminaries from the field of research, engineering, medicine, health and technology from across the globe and the pursuit of scientific knowledge. The event finally culminated with a Stand-Up Comedy performance by a renowned Stand-Up comic Sahil Shah, for participants to enjoy and unwind themselves from the months of hard work put in by them.
