Ltd, a subsidiary of the Illinois-based Motorola Inc (sales revenue: $36.6 billon or Rs.153,700 crore in 2007) recently connected four primary-cum-secondary schools of the Parikrma Humanity Foundation scattered across Bangalore, through utilisation of Motorolas state-of-the-art Canpoy™ technology.Employing a completely wireless ecosystem, from infrastructure and applications to end-user devices, Canopy enables streaming of audio-video feeds and touch-screen smart boards, turning the idea of a dream classroom into reality.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch of this initiative, Soumitra (‘Sammy) Sana, country president, Motorola India and managing director, Motorola Software Group India commented: Motorola technologies have always had relevance as enablers of social development. This is another example of that attribute at work.
Acknowledging the generosity and depth of Motorolas corporate social responsibility programmes, Shukla Bose, founder-director of Parikrma Humanity Foundation, which has promoted four schools in Bangalore providing English medium education and nutrition to 850 slum children of the poorest of the poor observed: We understand the difference technology can make in the new world, and all of us at Parikrma are raring to make the best use of it.
Motorola India has been closely associated with several NGOs. In particular the companys association with Parikrma goes back to 2005, when it donated a library and three-wheeler to the foundation. A school bus and classroom aids followed in 2006.
