A contingent of aspirants for the State Service Examination-2023, having successfully cleared the preliminary round, undertook an overnight demonstration outside the MPPSC headquarters in Indore, urging an extension of the main examination dates to facilitate more comprehensive preparation. The candidates, displeased with the time constraints imposed by the MPPSC, utilized makeshift bedding, created bonfires for warmth, and engaged in devotional songs throughout the night. Leading the protest, Akash Pathak underscored the necessity for a minimum of 90 days dedicated to preparing for the main examination. The participants have resolved to persist with their demonstration until their demands find acknowledgment from the authorities.
Ravindra Panchbhai, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at the MPPSC, assured that the protestors’ requests would be formally presented to the commission for thoughtful consideration. Panchbhai added that some candidates, who secured positions in the preliminary examination, have advocated for adhering to the initially scheduled main exam dates, aiming to ensure the prompt declaration of results.
In the preliminary examination results announced on January 18, a total of 5,589 candidates emerged successfully from a pool of nearly 2 lakh aspirants, qualifying for participation in the main examination. The examination, designed to fill 229 positions across diverse administrative services through the State Service Examination 2023, had prompted significant interest and applications.
The aspirants, facing the challenge of time constraints for adequate preparation, have brought attention to what they perceive as an insufficient interval between the preliminary and main examinations. The protest unfolds against the backdrop of a broader debate on the fairness and transparency of examination processes, and the aspirants aim to amplify their voices in an effort to garner support for their plea. The MPPSC, tasked with managing the examination process, is now confronted with the task of balancing the concerns of aspirants with the practicalities of maintaining an established schedule, ensuring integrity in the examination procedures, and delivering timely outcomes.
